About the Institute

Delhi Technological University (DTU) is a prestigious non-affiliating teaching and research university in Delhi, with a legacy spanning over 83 years. Established in 1941 as Delhi Polytechnic and later renamed Delhi College of Engineering in 1965, it became DTU in 2009 under the Delhi Act 6 of 2009. The university excels in science, engineering, technology, management, and allied fields, offering 17 undergraduates and 35 postgraduate programs, alongside Ph.D. opportunities.

DTU emphasizes a holistic education approach, combining technical and managerial skills with the development of soft skills such as leadership and self-confidence. The recently established East Delhi Campus in Vivek Vihar enhances its focus on management and entrepreneurship while promoting research and innovation.

Academic Structure

Academic System
Continuous and comprehensive evaluation with Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) is practiced, based on periodic homework assignments and 
examinations, intended to ensure that the student is aware of his/her level.Creation of ABC (Academic Bank of Credits)/ APAAR(Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry) ID for Students.
As per the order of the Ministry of Education (MOE), creation of ABC/APAAR ID for all students is mandatory. This ID will serve as a unique identifier for students, facilitating seamless tracking of their academic progress and other educational activities. The APAAR ID acts as a link to DigiLocker, an online repository, where students securely store essential documents like exam results. Linked to the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) via the APAAR ID, it receives academic credits from institutions through the National Academic Depository. APAAR, which stands for Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry, is a specialized identification system designed for all students in India. This initiative is 
part of the 'One Nation, One Student ID' programme launched by the Union government, aligning with the new National Education Policy of 2020

Facilities

_Infrastructure

_DTU has 164 acres of a lush green, tech-savvy main campus, consisting of 16 academic departments, research centres, and residences for students, faculty, and staff.  At present, the university has around 15,000 students in its undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D programmes. DTU has an EDUSAT Studio utilized for recording lectures, events, and talks. Besides the main campus, the university has another campus in East Delhi, where some of the M.B.A. programmes, B. A (Hons.) Economics and B.B.A. programmes are offered. The newly established East Delhi Campus of DTU has been functional since the 2017-18 academic session. It is located at Vivek Vihar, Phase II, Delhi. This campus endeavours to provide quality education, research, and innovation in the emerging areas of management, relevant to industry and society. To ensure holistic development, DTU offers a vibrant ecosystem of over 50 Technical, Cultural, Literary, Social & Outreach Societies, and Innovation Teams through the office of Student Welfare. Department of Training & Placement

The Training & Placement Department (T&P) at Delhi Technological University plays a vital role in the transformation from academic life to professional life. Our mission is to equip students with the skills and provide adequate opportunities necessary to thrive in today’s evolving job market.

From the moment students begin their academic programs, the T&P Department introduces them to career development resources such as resume workshops, interview coaching, and aptitude training. Invictus- DTU’s annual technical festival

A three-day flagship festival, one of the most anticipated events that celebrate this spirit of innovation. Over the years, Invictus has grown to become one of the most renowned technical fests in the country, drawing participants from across the nation. The three-day festival is a thrilling blend of knowledge, competition, and inspiration, featuring an extensive array of over 80 events that cater to a diverse audience.

From competitive programming and hackathons to quizzes, robotics, cryptic hunts, case , guesstimates, designing competitions, and pitching competitions, Invictus provided a platform for students to showcase their technical prowess, problem-solving skills, and innovative thinking. The fest is further elevated by renowned speakers from various fields, who share their insights, experiences, and vision for the future, leaving attendees motivated and inspired.

The festival witnesses partnerships not only among DTU’s technical societies but also with major technology firms and industry leaders. These collaborations played a crucial role in enhancing the quality and scope of the festival, allowing participants to interact with professionals, gain industry exposure, and explore new career opportunities.

NCC

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) of Delhi Technological University was founded in 2020 with a vision to instill discipline, leadership, and a strong sense of national service among the youth. In a short span, DTU NCC has grown into one of the most dynamic and high-aspiring student organizations on campus, driven by the goal of shaping responsible and capable future leaders.

E-Cell

The Entrepreneurship Cell at Delhi Technological University (E-Cell DTU) is a dynamic student-led initiative established in 2008 by late Ms. Sheila Dixit, to foster a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem within the university. With a mission to transform students into innovators and job creators, E-Cell DTU provides mentorship from venture capitalists, angel investors, and industry leaders, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, with prominent names bring Mr. Nikhil Kamath, Mr. Ashneer Grover, Mr. Viraj Bahl, Mr. Vijay Shekhar Sharma and Mr. Amit Jain. Over the years, it has evolved into one of India’s largest societies, promoting values of productivity, innovation, and independent thinking among students. 


Location and Accessibility

 Location
Delhi Technological University is situated at Shahbad Daulatpur, Rohini in North - West Delhi, India. It is approximately 32 kilometers from the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi and the nearest Metro stations are Samaypur Badli/Rithala. Once at Samaypur Badli/Rithala, board local transport, auto or bus to get down at DTU, which is 3-4 kms far from Samaypur Badli/ Rithala Metro Station.
