About the Institute

The Central University of Jammu (CUJ) came into existence on August 08, 2011 and was established under the Central Universities Act, 2009 (Act No.25 of 2009 read with the Central Universities Act, 2009). The first academic session (2011-2012) commenced with three post graduate courses and at present university is offering various undergraduate/ Postgraduate/ PhD/ Diploma/Certification programmes through its University Departments and Centres. The University is fully functional from its permanent campus located at Village Rahya – Suchani (Bagla) in District Samba of J&K, approximately 24 km away from the Jammu-Tawi Railway Station, 25 km from the Jammu Airport, and around 7 km from the National Highway. The campus is well connected through local and state transport. Central University of Jammu epitomizes an inclusive and pluralistic institution of higher learning. 

University has started 04 B.Tech. programmes under two departments i) Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), and ii) Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). Our departments are at the cutting edge of technological advancement, committed to shaping the innovators and leaders of tomorrow.

In the CSE department, students delve into areas such as cyber security, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, and IoT. Our curriculum balances theoretical foundations with practical applications, supported by state-of-the-art laboratories and real-world projects. Graduates leave prepared for dynamic careers in software development, systems architecture, and beyond.

The ECE department offers a robust education in the design and application of electronic devices and communication systems. Our students engage with contemporary topics like Avionics, VLSI design, embedded systems, and wireless communication, ensuring they are adept in both established and emerging technologies. This hands-on approach prepares our alumni for impactful roles in telecommunications, aerospace, and various high-tech industries.

University has two Centre of Excellence i) ISRO sponsored Satish Dhawan Centre for Space Science (SDCSS), and ii) DRDO Industry Academia- Kalam Centre of Excellence (DIA-KCoE). The B.Tech. Electronics and Communication Engineering (Avionics) is mentored by IIST Thirruvananthapuram.
