About the Institute

The Indian Institute of Information Technology Raichur (IIITR) was established in 2019 as a centre of academic excellence in the field of Computer Science and Information Technology. 


Though being a budding institute, IIITR offers various facilities to students without compromising on quality. IIITR is an institute of national importance, formed under the Public Private Partnership model, with contributions from Ministry of Education, Government of India and the Government of Karnataka.


With its highly esteemed and able faculty, modern curriculum and a batch of bright-minded individuals passed out, IIITR is an abode of creativity and innovation, ready to show the world what it is capable of. The highly flexible curriculum forged by the esteemed faculty exuberates innovation and inventiveness. With core subjects being incorporated from the first semester itself, the students can finish their courses quite early and focus on developing projects and industry-relevant skills.

Note:

1._      The semester fee structure is for 6 months instead of a semester of 4 months.

2._      *The dining charges are calculated assuming Rs. 200.00 per day for 5 months and the balance will be adjusted once a semester. Mess charges will be as per actuals. If a student is not on campus during vacation the balance amount of mess charges collected will be adjusted or refunded to the student at the beginning of next semester.

3._      **The medical insurance covered is Rs 2.0 Lakhs. Insurance Premium is subject to revision.

Academic Structure

BTech Academic Structure - IIIT Raichur

The Indian Institute of Information Technology Raichur (IIIT Raichur) is the latest IIIT established in 2019 under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. Located in Raichur, Karnataka, it currently operates from the campus of the Government Engineering College (GEC) in Yaramarus. Plans are underway for a permanent campus on a 75-acre site in Raichur in the upcoming year (tentatively)​.

IIIT Raichur offers the following three Bachelor of Technology (BTech) specializations, and all the programmes offered by the Institute shall be governed by the Ordinance:

    1. Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) 

    2. Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI & DS)

    3. Mathematics and Computing (M & C)

The academic programs are designed to provide a robust foundation in information technology and computer science, fostering a strong research culture among students. The institution also emphasizes continuous evaluation through its Fractal Academic System.

Structure:

    1. Duration: 4 years, divided into 8 semesters.
    2. Credit requirements: For each specialization, there is a minimum credit requirement. In order to qualify for a BTech Degree of the Institute, a student is required to complete the credit requirement as prescribed in the curriculum for a particular programme.
     3. CSE: 125 credits
           AI & DS: 126 credits
           M & C: 129 credits
    4. Core Subjects: 
          (i) CSE:  Algorithms, Data Structures, Computer Networks, Operating Systems, Databases, Programming Languages. 
          (ii) AI & DS: Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Analytics, Natural Language Processing.
          (iii) M & C: The core subjects typically encompass a blend of mathematics, computer science, and their applications.These subjects provide a strong foundation in both mathematics and computer science, preparing students for diverse career paths in industry and academia​. The courses also provide a comprehensive foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of mathematics and computing

    5. Electives: A variety of electives available in advanced topics and interdisciplinary areas. Electives from one specialization can be opted in other specializations given that timetable doesn’t clash and with a prior approval form the concerned department/faculty. 

    6.  Internships: The curriculum has flexible semester-long and summer internships as part of its course work. It gives students ample opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios. They help in developing professional skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving, while also offering valuable industry exposure and networking opportunities. This experience enhances employability by making students more attractive to potential employers, demonstrating their readiness to enter the workforce with hands-on experience.

B.Tech Honors

IIIT Raichur has provision for an Honors program (for all the three specializations mentioned above) that is designed to challenge the brighter and more ambitious students, without burdening an average student. 

Some salient features are listed below:

● A student can opt for Honors after the completion of the second year.

● The student should have a CGPA >= 8.0 (without any backlog) at the end of the fourth

semester.

● The student must complete an additional 12 discipline credits.

● The student should have CGPA >= 8.0 (without any backlog) at the end of the eighth

semester and should not have any backlog throughout the B.Tech course

Curriculum Highlights: The curriculum at IIIT Raichur is designed to provide a comprehensive knowledge while keeping in mind the requirements of the industry and the nation. 

In a nutshell:

    i. First Year: Broad courses from engineering, science, and liberal arts.

    ii. Second Year: Core engineering and interdisciplinary subjects.

    iii. Third Year: Specialization electives and research projects.

iv. Fourth Year: Project-heavy, focusing on research and industry-oriented projects.

    3. Fractal Academic System_: IIIT Raichur follows a Fractal Academic System, which emphasizes continuous evaluation and modular courses. This system is designed to provide flexibility and enable students to learn at their own pace, adapting the course load to their individual needs and interests. Such an approach can enhance the learning experience by reducing stress and allowing for more personalized education paths.


    4. Research and Practical Exposure_: The curriculum encourages research and practical exposure through projects, internships, and industry collaborations. Student Life at Institute

The student family of IIITR consists of competitive coders, web-development enthusiasts, eager learners and diligent scholars. They have been actively involved in various technical and cultural club activities of IIIT Raichur. At the same time, the students have founded and set up numerous clubs to further facilitate collaborative learning and introspective growth. 


To address the needs of the students related to the regular academic coursework at IIIT Raichur, the library at IIITR contains multiple copies of standard textbooks. The students are actively encouraged to make optimal use of the library by borrowing the required textbooks and reference books from the library to complement their classroom learning in the best possible way. The library at IIIT Raichur currently accommodates at least 30 readers at any given point of time during office hours.


IIITR has a common Dining facility for all its students inside the campus premises. Both north Indian and south Indian varieties are served in the dining hall. Student representatives and faculty in-charges regularly inspect the quality of food.


IIITR also offers an adequate hostel facility with already furnished rooms that are regularly maintained. The hostel facilities at IIITR are very good.


Thus, on an overall note, IIIT Raichur is a wonderful place to explore, learn, and show what you are.


 

Financial Assistance

IIIT, Raichur is registered for National Scholarship Portal of Central Government for various scholarships. The institute is also registered in various States under various State Schemes for the student who are domicile of that State.

Training & Placement

At IIITR, we have a Training Placement Cell, which is responsible for facilitating and monitoring the recruitment activities related to internships and placements. It also conducts various training sessions for developing soft skills, problem-solving skills, coding quizzes, etc., to prepare the students for the interviews and coding exams.

During the placement season 2023–24, among the various companies that participated in internships and campus recruitment are MAQ, TCS, Infosys, Lokal App, TheRightDoctors, Teachnook, Upraised, myways, ExcelR, TalentServe, RANCHO LABS,   thoughtworks, Wave Tech Services and Wiley Edge.

Industry And Alumni Relations

The institute has partnered with Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) in Public and Private Partnership (PPP) Mode, wherein they have stake of 15% in the capital building of the institute. 


In addition, the institute has members in Board of Governance as follows:

Recreational/Extra Curricular activities

Extracurricular and club activities are integral to a student’s life and are crucial for the student’s all-around/overall development. IIIT Raichur provides a platform for students to organize and participate in different events and clubs. IIIT Raichur has clubs ranging from technical clubs to cultural clubs, which maximizes the participation of students with different interests.

Location and Accessibility

  1. The temporary campus of IIIT Raichur is running at Government Engineering College, Raichur, which is located at Yeramarus Camp. It is 10 kilometres from Raichur City and 7.2 kilometres from the Raichur Bus station. 
  2. IIIT Raichur is 190 Km from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Hyderabad.
  3. Soon the campus will be shifted to a permanent campus that is under construction.
