About the Institute

INDIAN INSTITUTE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AGARTALA (IIIT-AGARTALA), is one of the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (PPP) in the country, set up with the objective of making available facilities for higher education, research and training in various fields of Information Technology. To address the challenges faced by the Indian IT industry and growth of the domestic IT market, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), now Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India intends to establish twenty Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIIT), on a Not-for-profit Public Private Partnership (N-PPP) basis. The partners in setting up the IIITs would be the MoE, Governments of the respective States where each IIIT will be established, and the industry. On the same line INDIAN INSTITUTE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AGARTALA (IIIT-AGARTALA) is newly established Educational Institute by the Ministry of Education, Government of India and few industry partners as Not-for-profit Public Private Partnership (N-PPP) Institution.This institute is an institute of national importance under act of parliament and is currently operating from its temporary campus at mentor institute NIT Agartala.

Student Life at Institute

The students actively participate in all co-curricular activities like games and sports, techno-cultural festivals, essay competition, drama competition, rallies on various themes, NSS programmes etc. sponsored by the State Government, Central Government and other statutory bodies and the Institute authority. 

Apart from these, there are several clubs and societies managed by the students.

Financial Assistance

Scholarships are awarded to the students at under graduate level of this Institute based on the guidelines of State Government and Central Government subject to the fulfillment of academic and other criteria.

Training & Placement

Centre for Career Development (CCD) is to assist students in their career exploration and successful job search and to successive placement. The centre provides regular guidance to the students regarding their career ambitions. The aim and objective of the centre is to motivate student to adopt a career-oriented mindset in conjunction with job orientation.

The centre facilitates a convenient interface for the companies to interact with students so that it is mutually beneficial for both the student mass and for industry and corporate sectors. Such programs could inspire and motivate young talent towards core engineering sectors in order to meet the demands of the corporate world staging a drive for national progress and to become diligent citizens.

Location and Accessibility

The Institute is located in the midst of serene greenery having a picturesque natural beauty. It is about 4 km away from the National Highway and about 20 km from Agartala, the capital city of Tripura. Agartala is linked with the rest of the country by air, rail, and road. It has got direct Air Link with Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Guwahati, Shillong, Imphal, etc. The nearest railway station from the Institute campus is Jirania.
