About the Institute
INDIAN INSTITUTE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AGARTALA (IIIT-AGARTALA), is one of the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (PPP) in the country, set up with the objective of making available facilities for higher education, research and training in various fields of Information Technology. To address the challenges faced by the Indian IT industry and growth of the domestic IT market, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), now Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India intends to establish twenty Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIIT), on a Not-for-profit Public Private Partnership (N-PPP) basis. The partners in setting up the IIITs would be the MoE, Governments of the respective States where each IIIT will be established, and the industry. On the same line INDIAN INSTITUTE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AGARTALA (IIIT-AGARTALA) is newly established Educational Institute by the Ministry of Education, Government of India and few industry partners as Not-for-profit Public Private Partnership (N-PPP) Institution.This institute is an institute of national importance under act of parliament and is currently operating from its temporary campus at mentor institute NIT Agartala.

Location and Accessibility
The Institute is located in the midst of serene greenery having a picturesque natural beauty. It is about 4 km away from the National Highway and about 20 km from Agartala, the capital city of Tripura. Agartala is linked with the rest of the country by air, rail, and road. It has got direct Air Link with Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Guwahati, Shillong, Imphal, etc. The nearest railway station from the Institute campus is Jirania.
