About the Institute
The Indian Institute of Information Technology Surat was established in Private-Public-Partnership (PPP) mode by Ministry of Education, Government of India in 2017 in association with Govt. of Gujarat and industry partners GNFC, GGL and GIL. The academic activities of the Institute began in 2017 in SVNIT. Since Sept. 2022, the Institute is operating from its own academic facility in Kamrej in Surat.
IIIT-Surat offers B.Tech. and Ph.D. programs in Computer Science & Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering. The B.Tech. curriculum is designed such that ECE students learn AI, ML, IoT, cybersecurity and block-chain. The Institute has signed MoU with Industries in Surat, Pune and Bangalore for collaborative industrial Internship for the students in B.Tech. 8th Semester. The faculty have collaboration with industries for their research work. The students in the final year 2023-24 are on internship till June 2024, and nearly 70% of them already have placement offer. The startup ideas of the students are supported under SSIP (Student Startup and Innovation Policy) program of Government of Gujarat. The institute has received funds of around 1.87 Crore under this policy for a period of 5 years and over three startups are already established and running successfully. IIIT-Surat extends support for all curricular and extra-curricular activities. Our students have won gold medal in inter-IIIT sports competition and national level coding competitions and hackathons. Various clubs are constituted for holistic development of every student.

Academic Structure
The Institute offers B.Tech. degree course in Computer Science & Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering. Rules For Change Branch

The change of branch is allowed only in the beginning of the third semester subject to the conditions as detailed in academic rules.

Facilities
The Institute has all the facilities needed for academic programs offered. Institute supports extra curricular, sports, and cultural activities. Students have won gold medals in inter-IIIT Sports. The Institute organized Yuva-Sangam phase-3 program in Dec 2023. Students have won laurels in national level hackathons held in 2022 and 2023. Students are active in various clubs of the Institute.The hostel facility for boys and girls is available in the nearby academic institutions. Bus facility is available for residents in hostel at nominal cost.
Student Life at Institute
The campus is little away from the main city of Surat and has ambience for engineering education. The campus location is well connected by road. The student clubs are fully supported for conducting variety of programs for holistic development of students. All activities are guided by faculty members and executed by student leaders. The new entrants will be guided properly during the induction programme organized by the Institute. A cordial relation is established between the students. Institute offers full support for sports activities and cultural activities.
Financial Assistance
The scholarships available from Central Government (NSP) and respective domicile State Governments as per applicable rules. Students can avail the scholarship by submitting the prescribed application to the respective governments.
Training & Placement
The Training & Placement (T&P) activities are coordinated by an officer appointed for the purpose and nominated faculty members supervise all placement and internship activities. During 8th semester, as per curriculum, Industrial internship of 6-months duration is compulsory. The internship has boosted the student placements national and multi-national industries.

Industry And Alumni Relations
The Institute has signed MoU with IT Industries in Surat, Pune and Bangalore for internship and collaborative research activities.
Recreational/Extra Curricular activities
The Institute has various academic clubs and sports club. National programmes are celebrated with active participation of students. Also, students are encouraged to actively participate in national level academic competitions, and inter-IIIT sports events since 2018. Institute has won gold medal in Kabaddi (boys) and silver medal in vollyball (girls) in the inter-IIIT sports meet held in Prayagraj in March. 2024. The annual cultural and academic fest Spring Fiesta is a regular feature for students to exhibit their talent.
Location and Accessibility
Surat is a city of diamond and textile industries and well-known for its top ranking among the clean cities in India. The academic campus of the Institute is near the National Highway No.48 connecting New Delhi and Mumbai. The new campus is at a distance of 15 km from the Surat Railway Station and Interstate Bus Terminus, and at a distance of 32 km from Surat Airport. Different parts of the city of Surat are well-connected with BRTS facility.
